Vicki Christopher is a Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Southern Queensland. Vicki works with Early Childhood Pre-Service Educators within the areas of play pedagogies, foundations of early childhood education, and early years creativity and the arts. Her research is located within the Early Childhood Education field, with specific interests in early childhood learning environments, play, social justice, nature immersion and child voice. She strongly advocates for young children to be valued and respected, and to have their voices represented in decision making for – and discussion of – issues relating to them. Vicki is also a PhD Candidate. Her PhD research investigates children’s experiences of natural environments as places for learning and development, by authentically involving children in research through multiple creative approaches. Vicki is a part of the OMEP Australia Secretariat. OMEP Australia is the Australian arm of the Organisation Mondiale pour l’Education Prescolaire (OMEP) or the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education, a non-governmental and non-profit organisation with Consultative Status at the United Nations and UNESCO. She is also on the board of the Australian Forest School Association, a not-for-profit group whose aim is to promote, mentor and support nature immersion programs for diverse ages and environments across Australia.
