Yvonne Salton is currently a Lecturer of Secondary Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of Southern Queensland. She is an accredited panellist with the Queensland College of Teachers and a registered teacher. Her PhD “Images of the Teacher Self in an era of Teacher Quality and standardisation” considered how teachers navigate the current era of quality and standardisation and the implications this has to how they viewed themselves and their teaching practice. Yvonne’s research interests are in relation to teacher’s developing identity and educational policy. She is currently involved in two distinct projects, the first focusing on the images of teacher self from pre-service to in-service, which tracks pre-service teachers from 1st year initial teacher education to first year in-service to understand the developing image of self in teaching practice through these five years. The second project focuses on early career researcher’s advocacy for support and representation within institutional policies and processes.

Research revolves around the progression of educators in their practice and view of themselves in their professional self in an era of globalisation and the ongoing reviews into education from the 1970s to the present day. Inherent in this is the power and practice of policy. Additionally, consideration for the impact on teacher education and pedagogical practices that result from policy shifts.
