Paul Belesky is an Adjunct Research Fellow (Non Resident) in the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Systems at the University of Southern Queensland and an Adjunct Research Fellow (Non Resident) in the Centre for Policy Futures at The University of Queensland. He is currently an Associate Director at KPMG Australia. He is also an affiliated Global Research Fellow (Non Resident) in the Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies at the University of Nottingham. Prior to these roles, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of International Environment and Development Studies at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Previously, Paul worked for six years as a sessional Lecturer and Tutor at the School of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Queensland, Australia. He holds a PhD and a Masters degree from the University of Queensland. He has presented his research at Peking University, the Australian National University, the National University of Singapore, the University of Oslo and the University of Warwick. Prior to his research career, he has ten years of experience working in management roles for global food companies such as Nestlé, Fonterra and Simplot.

Research interests
Geopolitics and economics, international trade, agri-food policy, sustainable development, agribusiness, global value chains, food and water security, sustainable and resilient agri-food systems in an era of environmental change, China’s political economy and agricultural policy, bioenergy and biofutures.
