Research topics

Dr Kelly McWilliam is an Associate Professor in Communication and Media Studies and the Immediate Past President of the Cultural Studies Association of Australasia. Known for her research on contemporary screen media¿particularly digital storytelling and co-creative media, and Australian and queer film¿and its impacts, Kelly is the author or editor of four books and 30+ refereed publications. Her most recent book is Ana Kokkinos: An Oeuvre of Outsiders (Edinburgh University Press, 2019). She also has a forthcoming collection titled Australian Genre Film (with Mark David Ryan, Routledge). Kelly has also completed work on two ARC Linkage Projects worth more than $400,000; is a past member of the ARC Cultural Network; past winner of the USQ Research Excellence Award for Early Career Researchers; and a current ARC Assessor.
