I am a mother of two, stepmother of one, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of one. My family are a source of joy and happiness for me. I am a registered nurse who is employed by USQ as a Clinical Facilitator a role I enjoy immensely. I additionally work for Qhealth as a Clinical Nurse at Toowoomba Base Hospital. I have an abundance of life experience and after the death of my first husband and the completion of my children's education I decided to realise my life long dream of becoming a nurse. I completed the Tertiary Preparation Programme and finished my degree at the University of Southern Queensland. During my degree I worked as a support worker for people with physical and mental disabilities. The communication skills I learned on the job were invaluable. On completion of my degree I obtained a graduate position at The Park centre for Mental Health at Wacol. The Park was a positive experience which provided me with a greater understanding of people with chronic mental health conditions which required them to be in extended treatment units. In 2006 I secured a position at Princess Alexandra (PAH) working in a Renal medical ward and in the Acute,Chronic and Secure haemodialysis units. Whilst at PAH with the support of the education team I completed my Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Nephrology through Edith Cowan University (Western Australia). During this time I completed several audits re Handwashing of staff and patients in dialysis units and commenced my Masters Project a Vancomycin -Resistant Enterococcus learning package for Nurses. I completed my Masters of Clinical Nursing (Nephrology) in 2012 and presented the results of the VRE learning package at the Renal Society Of Australasia conference. I commenced casual employment at USQ in 2015. My duties included marking for NUR1201, NUR1100,NUR2203,NUR2400,NUR2100, OSCE's NUR3200, labs for NUR2499 and online tutoring for NUR1102. In 2018 I was offered a position as a Level A Academic Clinical Facilitator which is the best job ever because I work with awesome people and wonderful students.
