Dr Helmut Geiblinger began his career as a physical education teacher in Austria. In his early years, he was a gymnastics competitor, coach, international FIG accredited judge and scientific investigator at five different world gymnastics championships. As a lecturer in the late 70¿s and early 80¿s at the University of Sydney, he completed his Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies (Human Movement Science) and Master of Education (MEd). During that time coached many state and national gymnastics champions as state coach of NSW and as Australian National Coach. Following his move from the University of Sydney to Victoria University, Helmut completed his PhD focusing on `Biomechanical perspectives of competition landings in gymnastics¿. In his journey as an educator, he has dedicated his career to teaching and research in Education and Sports Science. Since 2006, Dr Geiblinger is a lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Southern Queensland. His recent research activities include research presentations at national and international conferences; AARE conference in Canberra, European College of Sport Science (ECSS) 2014 - Amsterdam, international ACHPER conference 2015 - in Adelaide. Journal articles include - `a narrative journey of an educational researcher¿ - ¿Tumbling¿ through life¿and expecting a safe landing¿; a book chapter entitled ¿Juggling research with teaching: Building capacity in a university research team¿; and the most recent journal article Geiblinger, H., & Dowden, T.
