Biography

Dush started his teaching career while reading for his bachelor’s degree. After completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Colombo, he worked at one of the leading banks in Sri Lanka for 15 months. Then he migrated to the UK for further studies and obtained his QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) status to work as a qualified teacher in the UK. Then he started his teaching career in the UK as a senior mathematics teacher at leading secondary schools. Before returning to Sri Lanka, he served as an in-charge teacher for the Advanced Level mathematics section at the school where he worked. After returning to Sri Lanka in 2016, Dush worked as a Head of one of the leading international schools in Colombo. Besides working as a Head of the school, he worked as part-time mathematics and statistics visiting lecturer for two Australian-based higher educational institutes’ Sri Lankan campuses. In 2019 Dush migrated to Australia and joined UniSQ to start his Doctor in Education. His research interest is South Asian students' mathematical readiness for studying degrees requiring substantial quantitative skills. Whilst reading his Doctoral, Dush currently serves as a casual employee for the school of Mathematics, Physics, and computing, where he teaches and consults Engineering Mathematics for first-year students.
