The Student Learning Advising team includes Learning Advisors and Peer Assisted Study Support within the Support for Learning area. The Learning Advisors within the team partner with academic staff to embed support for learning within curriculum and provide study support to students. Learning Advisors work alongside other colleagues to collaboratively deliver a range of support services related to academic literacies. The team includes discipline-focused learning advisors and First Nations learning advisors, who work closely with the other Support for Learning teams around academic integrity awareness and academic skill development. Learning Advisors provide advice to academic colleagues to support the development of curriculum and co-curricular learning opportunities. They provide program-related, course-specific and generic workshops, develop digital learning resources, and provide individual advice to students using a coaching framework. The team supports the Student Success Advising initiative, liaising with academic staff and other professional colleagues to support student progression and provide students with coaching and support for skill development as required. The Peer Assisted Study Support (PASS) program is led by a Coordinator who oversees the recruitment, specialist training and management of a team of peer advisors, working closely with academic staff to embed peer-led learning including PASS into courses and programs, as well as providing a range of other peer-led advising programs. My research interests include: higher education, scholarship of teaching and learning, the first year experience, student engagement, vocational psychology, and educational psychology.
