Biography

Claire brings expertise in teaching music within primary and secondary school contexts as well as experience in teaching creativity studies, leadership and innovation studies at universities. Now working as a lecturer in curriculum and pedagogy at the University of Southern Queensland, her teaching focus has turned to the preparation of pre-service teachers and supporting them in developing skills and knowledge to become outstanding educators. She has worked on a variety of research projects and is a passionate advocate for developing research led community music initiatives that curate meaningful learning experiences within the concert hall and beyond. Her contributions to scholarship span a wide range of fields including history of pedagogy, research methods innovations, audience development in the Arts, applied philosophy, listening, and experiential learning. Her current research focuses on investigating regional orchestras in outreach and engagement, learning in community contexts through music and enhancing audience development efforts of Arts organisations.
