Asanka is a lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). His research is focused on robotics, mechatronics, drones, machine learning (including adversarial attacks and defence mechanisms on images and 3D point clouds), computer vision and signal processing. Some of his notable past works include human vital detection from drones, multi-sensor fusion and multi-robot navigation. Prior to joining UniSQ, Asanka was the Robotics and Autonomous Systems lab manager at UNSW Canberra at Australian Defence Force Academy. He has worked with several industry partners and government organizations as a research scientist.
